About B.Ed. Course:-

            This course has been designed for those aspirants who are interested to pursue career in teaching and other related fields. For teaching in high schools and higher primary schools, B.Ed. degree is must require in India. At present, the need for trained teachers is very high as lot of schools are building day-by-day. To become a successful professional in teaching field, one should has a minimum qualification in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).

            B.Ed. Degree is required in order to be considered eligible to teach higher secondary and senior secondary level students! This course was designed to churn out skilled HS (Higher Secondary) and SS (Senior Secondary) teachers!

            NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) is the body that takes care of the quality of teacher training in India. This body looks after the overall curriculum, training methods and quality of teacher training colleges in India.

            Teaching should be chosen as a career by individuals who love sharing information and knowledge with others. At the same time, there are benefits of this career as working hours are usually not too long. In a day, a teacher takes about 8 to 9 teaching sessions and can be back home for personal chores. This is the reason women usually prefer this career. However, these days, even dedicated men join as teachers. Besides the conventional subjects, Physical Training & Sports, Yoga and Art and Craft teaching are some preferred areas of teachers.

            Teaching is one of the respected professions in the world as they play a vital role in a student’s life. Teachers are in demand in both private and government sectors. After earning B.Ed. degree, you will be eligible to get job in secondary and higher secondary schools.

            After pursuing B.Ed. you will get offered a teaching job as a permanent, temporary, part-time or full-time as per your interest. With B.Ed. degree you can work in Schools, Education Department, Coaching Centers, Education consultancies, home and private tuitions, etc.

            Apart from teaching in schools, you can open your own coaching institutions where you can provide tuitions to the students. This will only improve your teaching skills and knowledge but also enable you to earn more.

            You can also work as academic content writers or academic counselors.

What is the scope after completing B.Ed.?

            Before planning for any course, the common question that arises in everybody’s mind is “Scope“. Where we can get job after this course? What are the areas which we can opt after completing this course?

            After completing B.Ed., you have a lot of scope to get job in private as well as government schools with a good salary package. The salary depends upon the post you are holding in the school.

            You can also open your own school if you are financially strong and have caliber to run the school. In the beginning, you can open a small school. The banks also finance for setting up new schools.

            Interested candidates can also pursue higher studies in this field. Master of Education (M.Ed.) is the postgraduate higher specialized course which students can pursue after the completion of B.Ed. You can also do Ph.D. after the completion of M.Ed.

• Teaching is considered a low paying job when compared with other corporate jobs.

• Pay packages of teachers are very low in a few schools and colleges and very high in several others. As a result, the standard of education gets badly affected.

• Syllabus rather than subject of interest in India binds teachers. As a result, the practical methodologies of teaching difficult subjects such as Maths are ignored. When these subjects are taught theoretically, the students may not grasp the subject very easily.

Eligibility Criteria:-

            Bachelor’s Degree holders are eligible to pursue regular B.Ed. course. 12th pass students are eligible to pursue Integrated B.Ed. course.

For the Science Graduate candidate:1. She/he must be an Arts / Science Graduate. General candidates should have at least 50% marks in aggregate in the Bachelor’s Degree Exam or in the Master’s Degree in concerned Science/ Social Science/Humanity subject and SC/ST, SEBC & PH candidates should have 45% of marks in aggregate in the Bachelor Degree Exam or in the Master’s Degree. She/he should have passed Graduation with at least two school subjects of minimum 200 marks each 

OR 

2. Candidates having Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology (B.Tech) with specialization in Science and Mathematics (as per AICTE syllabus) with 55% marks in aggregate for General candidates and 50% marks in aggregate for SC, ST, SEBC and PH candidates 

The Science graduate candidates should have passed with two school subjects (with not less than 200 marks each) out of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science and Geography 

N.B.: The Candidates claiming reservation for PCM subject must have studied all the concerned subject i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of minimum 200 mark each 

For the Arts Graduate candidate: The candidates applying for Arts category must have studied at least two (02) school subjects of 200 marks each at their Graduation level. The candidates having any two language subjects at their Graduation level can not claim as having two schools subjects. All the language subjects viz. English/Odia/Hindi/Sanskrit studied as compulsory/ pass/honours/electives shall be treated as one subject 

Candidates must have studied two (02) school subjects from the following: English/Odia/Hindi / Sanskrit, History, Geography, Economics, Indian Economy, Political Science, Landmarks in Indian History, Indian Geography, Indian Polity, Mathematics 

N.B.: The Candidates having English/Odia/Sanskrit/Hindi subjects either as pass, honours or elective must have studied another school subjects as mentioned above besides the language subjects 

She/he must have passed Odia as MIL up to HSC level or any such equivalent or higher examination or have passed Odia as a subject in specific exam conducted by BSE, Odisha of HSC standard or should have passed HSC Exam of BSE, Odisha in Odia medium with MIL other than Odia 

The Candidates seeking admission in B.Ed. Course for the seats reserved for Telugu Candidates must have studied Telugu as one optional subject at Graduation level.
